Supporting People is a national programme that started on 1st April 2003. It pays for housing related support services and thus helps vulnerable people with such issues to live independently in the community.

VRDS manage the Supporting People programme in Vale Royal Borough and employ a disability support worker to implement the programme.

Typical examples of the support work include:

bullet Advice and support on home repairs and improvements
bullet Help in managing finances and benefit claims
bulletEmotional support
bulletHelp in setting up and maintaining a tenancy.

This support is designed to help a person to do more, becoming more independent within the home and the community.  The support worker makes home visits.
