VRDS Community Learning

VRDS has been delivering training since 2002, developing training programmes around individual needs, increasing skills and empowering people to live a fuller more independent life.

Our speciality is to empower people who have not reached a level of confidence to use a computer for everyday tasks. We believe in partnership with local organisations, to benefit local communities, both at a group and a personal level.

This type of partnership working may well lead to a much wider digital inclusion programme, designed to meet the needs of a range of rural and semi-rural communities.

VRDS has an array of adaptive technology to give disabled people full access to a computer without barriers. A different keyboard or mouse might be necessary for people with physical impairments, or perhaps a program that enlarges text or generates synthesised speech for people with visual impairments. Plenty of information is available on adaptive technology, with one-to-one sessions as required.

For more details, including how to join VRDS programmes, telephone VRDS on 01606 888400 or email community.learning@vrds.org.uk.
